UK Bookstore Talks

"Meditation makes you happy and positive. The purpose of meditation is to make our mind calm and peaceful. If we train in meditation, our mind will gradually become more and more peaceful, and we will experience a purer and purer form of happiness. Eventually, we will be able to stay happy and positive all the time, even in the most difficult of circumstances"

Over the coming weeks and months Tharpa Publications, in partnership with New Kadampa Buddhist Meditation centres will be organising bookstore talks throughout the UK to promote their latest series of guided meditation CDs entitled, "Meditations for Everyday Life".

These talks will give people the opportunity to sample the benefits of guided meditations delivered by a range of experienced meditation teachers. Each event will consist of a short talk about how to develop a meditation practice, a guided meditation, followed by an opportunity to ask questions.

This site is designed to inform you of bookshop events on meditation in your area. If you can't see an event listed in your local area but would like further details of when one will be available please contact us by clicking here.

Testimonials

Here are some testimonials from recent events held:

'The meditation talk at my bookshop was a great success. In addition to my own publicity, Tharpa provided leaflets and bookmarks which were handed out with all purchases prior to the event and someone also displayed them in shops and various places around the town. This ensured the event was a sell out – we actually had to turn some people away. The talk itself was fascinating and everyone there enjoyed it immensely. The vast majority of people went on to buy one or all of the CD’s and some books sold as well. The event was certainly very profitable.

I have already been asked by people who were not able to come to this event if we will hold another one and I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending the talk to any other bookshop."
Sara Waddington from Simply Books

'All in all it was a very successful evening, sales wise. I can't think of anything that could have been improved on your end of things, the talk was really informative, witty and well-paced, and I also feel it lasted the right amount of time.

The guided meditation session was a good idea, too. We had a lot of good feedback from people at the till along the lines of how refreshed and inspired they felt, and even those that did not buy the book seemed to be taking leaflets so I think the talk was really effective. Hope that helps and perhaps we can host another evening with you again in the future :) "
Clare from Waterstone's in Bath

'You know, I can't think of how you could have improved the organisation of the event, you were so thorough in terms of advertising and promotion, and the promotional material was attractive.  In addition, your assistance on the night with chairs, etc, was very much appreciated; the buddha in the window was much admired.'
